Winners celebrate medal success in BeerLao badminton championship
Winners in the various categories of the 22nd BeerLao Badminton Championship 2023 received medals after their success in the National Assembly President’s Cup, which took place in Vientiane from August 23-26.
The tournament, which was organised to mark the 48th anniversary of Uprising Day on August 23, was sponsored by the Lao Brewery Company.

The Labdork Club from Vientiane won the President’s Cup this year after picking up several medals, marking their first overall win in the annual tournament.
The championship took place at the Lao-Thai Gymnasium, with 324 players from 24 clubs in Vientiane and the provinces of Champassak, Savannakhet, Khammuan, Luang Prabang and Oudomxay competing in 13 divisions.
Many young players took part, hoping to improve their skills while taking on some strong opponents.
The closing ceremony was led by the Minister of Education and Sports and President of the National Olympic Committee of Laos, Associate Prof. Dr Phout Simmalavong. Also present were representatives of the National Assembly, together with senior officials from the Olympic Committee, the Lao Badminton Federation, Lao Brewery Company, and other entities.
The Lao Brewery Company donated 362 million kip in sponsorship money, of which 146 million kip was given as cash prizes to the winners in each category.
The Lao Badminton Federation used the championship to select the best players in the U-18 age group to represent Laos at the Asean School Games, which will be held in Da Nang province, Vietnam, in November.
The championship comprised the boys’ U-15 division, male and female U-18 division, boys’ and girls’ U-12 singles, men’s open singles, men’s and women’s open doubles, men’s U-18 doubles, mixed U-18 doubles, mixed open doubles, and men’s doubles in the over 70 and over 80 age groups.
