Thai Airways resumes flights on Vientiane-Bangkok route

Thai Airways has reopened the Vientiane-Bangkok sector after flights on the popular route were suspended in March 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The resumption of flights was officially celebrated on August 15 in an event attended by Thai Airways representatives and Lao and Thai officials.
Speaking at the event, the Thai Ambassador to Laos Ms Morakot Sriswasdi said the additional flights would support Laos’ tourism industry and would be especially beneficial next year when Laos hosts the 27th Meeting of Asean Tourism Ministers and related meetings and the 42nd Asean Tourism Expo in Vientiane in January.
More flights between Bangkok and Vientiane will also enable more people to travel to Laos from Thailand and other countries during Visit Laos Year 2024.
According to Thai Airways, there will be two flights daily from Vientiane to Bangkok, with departure from Wattay International Airport at 1:30pm and 8:30pm.
Thai Airways suspended operations when the pandemic hit in March 2020. Smile Airways, which is owned by Thai Airways, resumed flights from Vientiane to Bangkok in September of the same year when the Lao government eased travel restrictions.
With passenger numbers now significantly increasing, Thai Airways decided to resume flights with a passenger capacity of 160 people.
