The MOU was signed on the sidelines of the 13th Vietnam International Advertising Equipment and Technology Exhibition which kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on August 16.
The President of the Lao Sign Association, Mr Vongnam Vongvilay, led 20 Lao delegates from 14 companies to attend the event from August 16-18 and signed the MOU with Vietnamese counterparts, indicating a positive step for the future of the Lao advertising industry.
Under the MOU, the two associations will exchange information and promote trade and investment in advertising and support one another in exploring market opportunities and organising events including meetings and exhibitions to promote economic activities between the two countries.
Mr Vongnam described how countries around the world, particularly businesses, experienced challenges triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Despite the lifting of restrictions, our business operators are still suffering from an economic recession, inflation, and higher costs. But we are slowly recovering and gradually regrouping and adapting ourselves to the new situation,” he said.
He said he greatly appreciated the strong friendship and special relationship between Laos and Vietnam, adding that businesses in Vietnam are investing significantly more in Laos and contributing to the growth of the Lao economy.
“We think that after participating in this exhibition, we will definitely increase trade contacts in the advertisement and sign sector,” Mr Vongnam said.
“Our delegation was also invited to observe the production process at a privately owned Vietnamese company that works for two advertising companies. We will also visit a large-scale steel factory that is an alliance with me in Ho Chi Minh City, where we will share experiences, techniques and methods of cooperation. We still have a strong will and hope to cooperate with the committee to organise a Sign Advertising Exhibition in Vientiane in the future.”
