Young entrepreneur seminar

Talk on creating games

The Youth Development Centre in Vientiane in collaboration with the Unknown Studio will lead a discussion on creating games and the various components involved, as well as the gaming industry. Participants will get to meet graduates from the Faculty of Computer Science. The session also gives advice on thesis writing, assembly of a portfolio, job application, and studying abroad.  Free entry.

Oudomxay boat racing festival

Oudomxay invites everyone to the annual boat racing festival. The event also features a bicycle rally, traditional performances, and a street fair. Visitors can also take a boat trip on the Mekong River, and take part in an almsgiving on September 25 as part of the Hor Khaosalak festival.

Japanese Culture Day

Come along and share in Japanese culture featuring various activities and fantastic performances by outstanding Japanese and Lao performers. Visitors can take photos of themselves in traditional Japanese costume, play with traditional toys, do calligraphy and take part in other fun activities.

Volunteers needed for telephone helpline

People who are good listeners and can spend at least a few hours a month taking calls, and speak Lao and/or English, are invited to apply to the volunteer mental and emotional support helpline project “Reach Out Laos” or in Lao (Popchai).
The project is funded by the British Embassy and will train Lao and English-speaking volunteers to handle calls and provide a listening service to those in need of support.
This free and confidential service will be available for both expatriate and Lao nationals.

Cover Dance K-Pop Contest

Be sure to register for the Cover Dance K-Pop Contest by writing your team’s name on Facebook page: Idol Indy Fashion. Entrants are required to perform a song by the Korean boy band Wanna One.
The winner will receive 1 million kip, first runner-up will get 700,000 kip, and the third-placed team will receive a K-Pop gift set.

Japanese peace exhibition

The Laos-Japan Institute at the National University of Laos invites you to make paper cranes, known as orizuru, as a gesture of peace. Japan and Laos have been affected by different kinds of bombs, but the desire for a peaceful world is the same regardless of nationality. This kind of event has been organised by JICA volunteers in about 60 countries. This event is taking place in Laos for the first time following a suggestion by a JICA volunteer from Hiroshima.
