Condolences on Phuket, Thailand tourist boat sinking

Minister of Foreign Affairs MrSaleumxayKommasith on Monday sent a message to his counterpart, Thailand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Don Pramudwinai to extend sincere condolences from Laos on the tragic sinking of a tourist boat in Phuket province, Thailand last week.
The stricken vessel sank during a violent storm near the southern resort island of Phuket late on the afternoon of July 5, resulting in passenger and crew drowning deaths and dozens of passengers missing.
“I have profound sorrow and wish to extend condolences on learning about this tragedy of a tourist boat sinking in Phuket province, which caused mass deaths and injuries of foreign tourists,” MrSaleumxay said in the message.
 “Representing the leaders, civil servants and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as well on my own behalf, I extend profound condolences and patience to Your Excellency and through Your Excellency to the government and people of the Kingdom of Thailand as well as the families of the deceased on these losses,” he added.
The accident caused the deaths of at least 44 Chinese tourists and more remain missing.
Minister Saleumxay also sent a message to Chinese counterpart Wang Yi yesterday to extend sincere condolences and through His Excellency to the Chinese government and people, particularly to the families of victims.
